Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your PlantPilot account and all associated data at any time. This page explains how to delete your account and what data will be removed.

Method 1: In-App Deletion (Recommended)

1. Open the PlantPilot app on your device
2. Go to Settings (tap your profile icon)
3. Tap Account
4. Scroll down and tap Delete Account (red text)
5. Review the information about what will be deleted
6. Tap Request Deletion
7. Your email app will open with a pre-filled message
8. Send the email to complete your request

What Data Will Be Deleted

When you delete your PlantPilot account, the following data will be permanently deleted within 30 days:

✅ Account Information

• Your profile (name, email, password)
• Account settings and preferences
• Subscription status (active subscriptions will be cancelled)

✅ Plant & Garden Data

• All garden plants in your collection
• Plant care history and logs
• Photos uploaded to the app
• Garden journal entries

✅ Calendar & Reminders

• All care tasks and schedules
• Reminder settings
• Calendar history

✅ Community Content

• Your posts and comments
• Community interactions
• Shared photos and tips

✅ AI Chat Data

• AI chat conversation history
• Plant identification results
• Saved AI recommendations

What Data We May Retain

We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:

📋 Legal & Financial Records (90 days - 7 years)

• Transaction records (for tax and accounting)
• Subscription payment history (required by payment processors)
• Legal compliance data (if involved in disputes)

📊 Anonymized Analytics (26 months maximum)

• Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics
• App performance metrics (crash logs without personal info)

This anonymized data cannot be linked back to you and is used solely to improve the app.

Timeline for Account Deletion

Stage	Timeline	Description
Request Received	Day 0	We receive your deletion request
Confirmation Email	Within 48 hours	You'll receive confirmation that we're processing your request
Account Deactivation	Within 7 days	Your account is immediately deactivated and you cannot log in
Data Deletion	Within 30 days	All your personal data is permanently deleted from our systems
Completion Email	Day 30	You'll receive final confirmation when deletion is complete

Before You Delete Your Account

💾 Export Your Data First (Optional)

If you want to keep a copy of your data before deletion:

1. Open PlantPilot app
2. Go to Settings → Privacy & Data
3. Tap Export My Data
4. You'll receive a download link via email with all your data in JSON format

Cancelling Active Subscriptions

If you have an active premium subscription, it will be cancelled when you delete your account. However:

Apple App Store Subscriptions:

• Cancel in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → PlantPilot → Cancel Subscription
• Or it will automatically cancel when your account is deleted

Google Play Subscriptions:

• Cancel in Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → PlantPilot → Cancel
• Or it will automatically cancel when your account is deleted

Note: No refunds are provided for unused subscription time. See our Terms of Service for refund policy.

Alternative: Temporary Deactivation

If you're not sure about permanent deletion, you can temporarily deactivate your account:

1. Go to Settings → Account
2. Tap Deactivate Account (instead of Delete)
3. Your data will be preserved but your account will be hidden
4. You can reactivate anytime by logging back in

Note: Deactivation is different from deletion. Your data remains on our servers.

Your Privacy Rights

GDPR (EU Users)

Under GDPR Article 17 "Right to Erasure," you have the right to have your data deleted.

CCPA (California Users)

Under CCPA Section 1798.105, you have the right to request deletion of personal information.

General Users

All PlantPilot users, regardless of location, have the right to request account deletion.
